Choose from flat water at La Boca, waves at Encuentro or freeriding in Cabarete Bay or at the famous Kite Beach and get some advanced lessons from pros who spend all year on the water.
How about Surfing in water so warm that no wetsuits are needed with conditions that range from gentle whitewater for beginners to larger waves that seasoned pros enjoy. The waves are almost always ready to surf at Playa Encuentro and there’s something magical about paddling out at sunrise.
Intense watersports not your thing? There is morning Yoga, Stand-Up Paddleboard on flat water or in the waves or if you want to test yourself, try out Stand-Up Paddleboard Yoga. For a more leisurely way to wake up, an easy walk on the beach followed by a cup of coffee and breakfast on the beach eases you into the day’s activities.Night time in Cabarete means Nightlife. Bars, restaurants and clubs line the beach downtown and it’s always Happy Hour, somewhere. Catch Live Music, ranging from local tipico, to Jack johnson stylings to modern jazz and get your body moving to Salsa, Bachata and Merengue later in the night. Fresh-caught seafood can be on the dinner menu every night – Fish, Conch and everyone’s favorite, Lobster. And if you crave less fish, no one cooks Chicken and Pork like Dominican chefs. Be prepared for a flavor fiesta paired with some of the best rums in the world followed by a shot of the local drink, Mama Juana, a brew made from local honey, red wine and spices.
More relaxed ocean activities wanted? Then head to Sosua beach where you can take a mellow Catamaran Trip, Snorkle in the protected bay or if you want to go one step further, learn to SCUBA dive so you can experience the surrounding waters in a new way. And from January-March, it’s whale-watching time – head out into Samana Bay to greet the Humpback whales up close as they return to their winter breeding grounds!
Need a break from the beach? Not a problem. Surrounding Cabarete is some of the best Canyoning in the Caribbean, where the water is refreshing and the cliff jumps pump your adrenaline, whether they are one meter or ten. Rappel down Waterfalls, and feel the water cascade around you.
Ready to explore the Mountains? You can hike, mountain bike, ride enduro motorcycles and our favorite, horses. Zipline between hills and valleys at an eco-preserve and take in the sunset while your adrenaline mellows.Want to experience more of the Dominican Republic’s Agricultural Roots? Visit farms to learn how tropical fruits and vegetables grow and eat fresh-picked produce off the tree. Go on a jungle walk where the guide will teach you all about the medicinal plants and herbs found along the trails. Love chocolate?
